Depart from Kochi International Airport on a direct flight to Muscat. Upon arrival at Muscat International Airport, meet your English-speaking guide who will assist with immigration formalities. Transfer to your hotel in the heart of Oman's capital city. After freshening up, begin your exploration with a visit to the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, a stunning example of modern Islamic architecture featuring a massive Swarovski crystal chandelier and the world's second-largest hand-woven carpet spanning the main prayer hall. Continue to the Royal Opera House Muscat, an architectural masterpiece with exquisite detailing and innovative design. In the evening, stroll along the picturesque Mutrah Corniche with its crescent-shaped promenade offering views of traditional dhow boats against the backdrop of jagged mountains. Explore the bustling Mutrah Souq, one of the oldest markets in the Arab world, where narrow lanes are filled with the aroma of frankincense, displays of silver jewelry, traditional textiles, and Omani handicrafts.
After breakfast, embark on a coastal journey to discover Muscat's maritime heritage. Visit the Al Jalali and Al Mirani forts guarding the entrance to Muscat Bay, followed by an exterior view of Al Alam Palace, the ceremonial palace of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik with its unique gold and blue columns. Continue to the National Museum of Oman to learn about the sultanate's rich history and cultural heritage through interactive displays and precious artifacts. After lunch at a local restaurant serving authentic Omani cuisine, enjoy a dhow cruise along Muscat's spectacular coastline, passing picturesque villages, hidden coves, and possibly spotting dolphins in their natural habitat. The afternoon concludes with a visit to the traditional fishing village of Qantab before returning to your hotel. Evening at leisure to explore Muscat's dining scene or relax at your accommodation.
Check out after breakfast and drive to the spectacular Wahiba Sands, stopping en route at the Wadi Bani Khalid oasis with its emerald pools surrounded by palm trees and smooth rock formations. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the natural pools before continuing to Wahiba Sands, a vast sea of undulating red and white dunes rising up to 200 meters. Upon arrival at the desert camp, enjoy a traditional Arabian welcome with dates and Omani coffee. Experience an exhilarating 4x4 dune bashing adventure as expert drivers navigate the steep sandy slopes. As the sun begins to set, climb to the top of a high dune to witness the desert landscape transform with golden hues. After sunset, return to camp for a magical evening under the stars with a traditional Bedouin-style dinner accompanied by live music and dance performances. Overnight in a comfortable desert camp with the option of traditional or air-conditioned accommodation.
After breakfast, drive to Nizwa through the eastern Hajar Mountains, stopping at the spectacular Wadi Shab gorge with its towering cliffs, crystal-clear pools, and hidden waterfall accessible only by swimming through a narrow crevice (optional activity). Continue to the massive Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its massive walls and towers built on a stone foundation. Upon arrival in Nizwa, the cultural capital of Oman, visit the impressive 17th-century circular fort with its massive central tower offering panoramic views of the surrounding date plantations and mountains. Explore the adjoining souk famous for its silver jewelry, copper crafts, and traditional khanjars (Omani daggers). Evening at leisure to enjoy the amenities of your hotel or further explore Nizwa's old town area.
Rise early to visit the famous Nizwa Goat Market (Friday mornings only) where locals gather to trade livestock in a traditional auction. After breakfast, begin your return journey to Muscat, stopping en route at the picturesque mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyeen with its terraced gardens and traditional mud houses built into the mountainside. Continue to Jebel Shams viewpoint for breathtaking views of Wadi Ghul, known as the "Grand Canyon of Oman," with its dramatic 1,000-meter drop. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the historic town of Birkat Al Mouz with its abandoned mud houses and ancient falaj irrigation system. Arrive in Muscat by evening for your departure flight to Kochi, taking with you lasting memories of Oman's diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
