  • COCHIN/TRIVANDRUM- DELHI- AGRA

Pick up from Delhi airport and transfer to Agra. Lunch at a local Restaurant .Check in at Hotel .Agra has found its mention in the famous Hindu epic Mahabharat as the forest of Agraban close to Mathura. Badal Singh founded the city in 1475. Sikandar Lodhi made Agra his capital city. Later, Babur defeated the Lodhis to capture the city situated on the banks of River Yamuna and thus, the long association of Mughals with Agra started. On arrival check in hotel. After freshen up sightseeing of the world famous Taj Mahal of  Sunset, one of the Seven Wonders of the World surely the most extravagant expression of love ever created. 20,000 men labored for over 17 years to build this memorial to Shah Jahan's beloved wife. Built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan in 1630 for his queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. Overnight stay and dinner arranged in Agra Hotel. 


  • AGRA- JAIPUR

Morning after breakfast proceed to visit Agra Fort, containing the Pearl Mosque - the rusty and majestic red- sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the river  Yamuna and the construction was started by Emperor Akbar in 1566. At the Diwan-I-Khas (hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the Emperor sat on his gem-studded peacock Throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms. Later drive to Jaipur, Pink City of Rajasthan. En-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri, built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 to commemorate the birth of his son and later abandoned due to scarcity of water. Visit the remains, it fortifications within the city including Place of Jodha Bai : This was the principal harem wing for Akbar's Hindu wives, over which Jodha Bai, mother of Salim (emperor Jehangir) presided imperiously from her spacious purdah - screened salon. The architecture of the building is a blend of styles with Hindu columns and Muslim cupolas The walls of the Hawa Mahal or Palace of the winds are made entirely of stone latticework.
 
Panch Mahal : A five storied architectural marvel and Akbar's personal citadel of  pleasure, where he would spend his evenings with the ladies of the harem. Nearby is the Astrologer's seat, an ornamented pavilion where the resident astrologer played an important role in day to day court life.Diwan-i-Khas : Fatehpur Sikri's architectural gem, this structure is unique for its interior decoration. This single vaulted chamber is dominated by its massive central Lotus Throne Pillar that supported Akbar's throne. This stone column supports a flat topped dome which is 6 m high. Diwan-i-Aam : This hall of public audience was designed for large public gatherings. Nearby is Pachisi courtyard, where Akbar and his courtiers used slave girls attired in brilliant dress as piece of pachisi (a game similar to ludo), moving when ordered on a giant marble board. After lunch proceed to Jaipur. On arrival visit CITY PALACE- A delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city. It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum. Visit JANTAR MANTAR - This is the largest and the best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country. This observatory consisting of outsized astronomical instruments is still in use.
 Transfer to hotel, overnight stay and dinner arranged in the hotel.

 


  • JAIPUR SIGHTSEEING

Morning after breakfast proceeds to local sightseeing of Jaipur. Visit HAWA MAHAL - The ornamental facade of this "Palace of Winds" is a prominent landmark in Jaipur. Their five-storey structures of sandstone plastered pink encrusted with fine trellis work and elaborate balconies. The palace has 953 niches and windows. Built in 1799 by Pratap Singh, the Mahal was a royal grandstand for the palace women. Later on transfer to AMBER FORT PALACE - Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Its construction was started by Man Singh I in 1592, and completed by his descendent Jai Singh I. Its forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds its ultimate expression. The lunch is arranged in a local restaurant there after the time is set apart for shopping (optional).  Later you are transferred to the hotel, where overnight stay and dinner is arranged.

 


  • JAIPUR - DELHI

Morning after breakfast drive to Delhi. On arrival lunch is arranged in a local restaurant. Proceed for local sightseeing of Delhi. Visit  QUTUB MINAR - 13 km to the south of Connaught Circus at Lalkote of 8th century Tomor Rajputs, the 72.5 m high Victory Pillar stands as a victory stand of a Muslim King Kutub-ud-din-Aibak in India. At Kila Roy Pithora, on the dilapidated fort of the last Hindu king Prithwiraj, this victory stand was made like throne in Gajni. In 1199 Kutub-ud-Din started its construction and it was completed in 1236 by Iltutmish, the son-in-law of Kutub. LOTUS TEMPLE- The Bahá'í Temple in Delhi is one of the most visited buildings in the world, attracting over 50 million people since it opened in 1986. Also known as the Lotus Temple for its distinct half-open lotus design, the belief behind the Bahá'í house of worship is that it should be open for all, regardless of denomination. There are however certain rules: no sermons can be delivered, no ritualistic ceremonies and no musical instruments can be played. There are also no religious images displayed. Later you are transferred to the hotel, where overnight stay and dinner is arranged.


  • DELHI SIGHTSEEING

Morning after breakfast proceeds to local sightseeing of Delhi. Orientation tour INDIA GATE - The national monument of India, India gate is located amidst the administrative locations of the country. Constructed in memory of 90,000 soldiers of British-Indian army who fought in the Second World War, the structure was built under the leadership of Sir Edwin Lutyens. The architectural complex is made of red stone and granite. PRESIDENT HOUSE (orientation tour)- The official residence of President of India, the building is another attraction of the New Delhi. It has remained home to the former British Viceroy of India till 1950. The magnificent structure is the finest example of Indo-British architectural monument which has caught attention of thousands of tourist all over the world.  Later on transfer to RAJ GHAT - One of the most sought-after destinations of Old Delhi, Rajghat is the place where Mahatma Gandhi, the Pioneer of Truth and Non-Violence had been cremated. The abode of eternal flame, located near the bank of Yamuna, contains the Epitaph ‘He Ram’, the last word spoken by Mahatma Gandhi after he was shot. In recent years, it has become tradition to pay respect to Gandhiji by visiting the site for foreign dignitaries. Preying session are organized on every Friday in memory of Gandhiji. RED FORT- The magnificent fort symbolizes the sovereignty of India, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 17th century. It had remained Mughal Capital of India till 1857 and attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world. The fort complex has entitled as World Heritage site in 2007 by UNESCO. Overnight stay at hotel.

Morning after breakfast you are free for shopping at the Janpath market and Connaught Palace. After lunch check out from the hotel and drive to Delhi airport for your flight back home, feeling contented about a wonderful holiday you spent in the northern part of India.
